Avis was founded in 1946, by Warren Avis who reasoned for the need of a reliable ground transportation throughout the country; hence, car rental.
In the 1950's, the Avis system thrived throughout the United States and caught on internationally. In the 1960's Avis expanded into car leasing and enhanced many services.
In 1962, Avis launched its successful advertising campaign. "We're only No2, We try harder". The campaign had instant consumer success. The campaign furthermore strengthened Avis's position in Europe surpassing its competitor, Hertz.
Since its establishment, Avis has grown significantly and, as of today, has a worldwide network of over 5500 offices in 172 countries.
AVIS Philosophy
Avis' goal is customer satisfaction through its varying services such as car rental, van rental, international leisure car rental, leasing, and limousine transportation.
Following the AVIS tradition, we at AVIS Lebanon, try harder to serve our customers and partners day after day. Our job is not just about renting cars, but always striving: We strive to be an added value service partner for our customers.
In the managerial and leadership sense, AVIS is committed to professionalism in primacy, clear direction, efficient team development, strong communication, sensible, quick and consistent decisions based on 'what' is right rather than 'who' is right. We recognize that excellence and professionalism among Avis management and employees a key.
Our "We try harder" principle directs us to look for continuous improvement (no matter how small) in everything we do. We will never hesitate to adapt new and more profitable ways of working provided that the integrity and honesty we apply to our business is never compromised. In the workplace, we actively encourage a 'try harder' and 'can do' mentality so as to operate a climate of TRUST and PURPOSE at all levels. The only mistake, we feel, is to not try something.
With regard to our environment, we operate as responsible and law obliging members of the community with respect to civil and public health and safety laws. We also recognize and respect the attitudes, characteristics, and customs of the local populations whom we carry our relations with.
